Open Spaces Officer

Are you passionate about maintaining and enhancing public spaces? We are looking for an Open Spaces Officer to join our team and play a key role in ensuring the upkeep and development of open spaces, play areas, and town assets.

Open Spaces Officer - Benefits 

• £25,993 - £27,711 per annum 
• 25 days annual leave, plus bank holidays, plus 2 concessionary days, rising to 30 days after 5 years.

Open Spaces Officer - Job Overview 

• Conducting inspections of play areas, equipment, and public spaces, ensuring high safety standards.
• Managing health and safety records, risk assessments, and responding to incidents.
• Maintaining an inventory of council-owned vehicles, streetlights, bins, benches, and other assets.
• Overseeing contractors to ensure projects meet agreed standards.
• Coordinating tree surveys and arranging necessary maintenance.
• Investigating and responding to public enquiries and complaints.
• Supporting the Facilities Officer in maintaining the Town Council’s built assets.
• Contributing to sustainability initiatives and ensuring compliance with environmental policies.

Open Spaces Officer - Skills & Experience Required 

• Experience in managing open spaces, play areas, or similar environments is desirable. 
• Strong IT skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively manage conflicting demands.
• A full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
• A NEBOSH or IOSH certificate and experience in local government would be an advantage but are not essential.
