A well respected and successful manufacturing business in Welwyn Garden City are looking to expand their team and recruit a CNC Setter/ Operator with an engineering or machine operating background on a Permanent basis.

As a CNC Setter/Operator you play a crucial role within the organisation. The ideal candidate should be a strong team player with excellent communication skills, capable of working effectively with other setters, supervisors, and staff at all levels.

The role is well-suited for individuals with an engineering, mechanical or automotive background.

CNC Setter/Operator – Benefits Offered

  • Hourly rate of £12.50 + 15% Shift allowance calculating to £14.37 an hour based on a 39 hour week on rotating shift patterns.

CNC Setter/Operator – Duties

  • To set and operate a number of different machines, CNC and non-CNC Manual as required, to the Company’s quality standards and cycle times.
  • To be able to set multi axis lathe machines with driven tooling.
  • To be able to read, edit and write FANUC based CNC programs using CADCAM, to streamline the programming language requirements. 
  • To be responsible for the quality of parts produced and ensure they conform to company standards and product drawings by measuring with Vernier, micrometre and projector and recording measurements taken.
  • To ensure all company procedures are followed with respect to product checking.
  • To run machines to achieve cycle times as recorded on works orders.
  • Assist Supervisor in improving changeover times, machine run efficiencies, and tooling set ups.
  • Keep work area clean and tidy to help minimise the risk of accidents.
  • Work under minimum supervision.

CNC Setter/Operator - Skills/Qualifications Required/Desired:                            

  • Experience in turning or operating machinery.
  • Able to read engineer drawings.
  • Able to use Microsoft  Word, Excel with  good computer skills.
  • Engineering or Mechanical background.
  • Previous experience with and understanding of tooling and various machine operations.
  • Problem-solving skills.
