Transport Supervisor

Established Letchworth based organisation who are going through a period of growth have a new opportunity for a Transport Supervisor to join their team and ensure vehicles and drivers are managed in accordance with legal regulations.  This role is responsible for daily upkeep of vehicle files and ancillary paperwork and general administration of the transport department.

Transport Supervisor – Job Overview

• Maintain awareness levels of all transport employees regarding health and safety, Working time directive, vehicle checks, Tachometer checks and maintaining the service planner and organising repairs / maintenance etc.
• Maintain vehicle files to ensure the company comply with legal responsibilities and therefore conform to VOSA and FORS requirements, as well as the company’s Goods Vehicles Operator Licence.
• Ensure all accidents, injuries and near misses are reported promptly and correctly and that any follow up actions are implemented
• Ensure that all new personnel are trained and inducted appropriately and that any training needs are addressed
• Take telephone calls from clients and loading the jobs onto the system, dealing with suppliers
• Monitor Fuel and tyre usage as well as driving standards

Transport Supervisor – Required Skills and Experience

• Strong organisational skills for planning schedules, journeys and loads
• Strong financial skills
• The ability to think logically, and make decisions quickly
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with people at all levels
• Computer literacy
• Good leadership and motivational skills
• Good understanding of Transport regulations (CPC Holder – National / International)
• Good geographical knowledge
• Ability to adjust and change systems and processes within a growing business
